The BaZi knowledge base

Plain-English explainers for a first-time reader. What BaZi is, what a day master means, and how Chinese astrology differs from a zodiac sign — no jargon left unglossed.

• What is BaZi compatibility?

BaZi compatibility reads two people’s Chinese birth charts side by side and scores how the two charts fit.

• What is a day master?

Your day master is the element of the day you were born, and classical BaZi treats it as the stand-in for your core self.

• Chinese astrology vs your zodiac sign

Your zodiac sign — Western sun sign or the single Chinese animal — comes from one number; BaZi reads your full birth date and hour, so it holds far more detail.

• Western astrology, mapped to BaZi

If you already know your way around a Western birth chart, these pairings show which BaZi idea sits in a similar place — a handhold for learning, not a claim that the two systems are equivalent.
