About Yinthread

Yinthread reads compatibility from BaZi — the classical Chinese birth chart. This page explains what that means, where the method comes from, whose voice the readings are written in, and what a reading honestly can and cannot tell you.

What Yinthread is

BaZi ("eight characters") is the classical Chinese birth chart, built from the date and hour you were born. Enter two birthdays and Yinthread builds a chart for each person, compares them across several classical tests, and returns a score out of 100 with one of seven relationship grades.

It is a small, independent web product. There is no app to install and no account to create — a reading lives at a link you can keep or share, and a free score is never even stored on our servers.

The method

The scoring follows classical Four Pillars (BaZi) and its Ziping tradition — the same framework Chinese fate readers have used for centuries — expressed as explicit, repeatable tests rather than intuition. Each of the six dimensions we score (the two "day masters", the marriage-linked "spouse palace", family affinity, elemental complement, stem combinations, and the named "stars") is one classical test of how two charts meet.

The calculation runs on our own servers from the birth details you enter. It is arithmetic over a chart, not a prophecy: the same two birthdays always produce the same reading.

The classical sources

These readings are read primarily through the Sanming Tonghui, a classical Chinese compendium of fate reading, with other classical works — such as the Ditian Sui — consulted as supplementary lenses. Where the texts disagree, and they often do, we treat each as a school with its own position rather than flattening them into a single "correct" answer, and we name whose rules a given reading follows.

We do not dress a modern interpretation in classical authority, and we do not invent a source. A rule either traces to a text we can read, or it is presented as our own interpretation — never as something the classics say when they do not.

Master Tang, the reading’s voice

The readings are written in the voice of "Master Tang." Master Tang is a persona — the calm, plain-spoken interpreter the product speaks through — not a claim about a specific living diviner. We do not attach a résumé, awards, or a client count to that name, because there is no real person those numbers would describe. The voice is simply a way of writing warmly and clearly; the authority behind the words is the classical method and its sources, not a celebrity master.

The service itself is operated by a named individual — a UK sole trader, set out in our Terms and Privacy Policy — so you know who stands behind it. That is a real, checkable fact. A master’s mythology is not one we will invent to sit beside it.

What a reading can and cannot do

A BaZi reading is for reflection, not a verdict. It describes tendencies a classical tradition draws from two charts; it does not measure a relationship, predict its future, or stand in for how two people actually treat each other. A low score is not a reason to leave, and a high one is not a promise to stay.

The paid written report is generated by an AI language model from the same chart data, in Master Tang’s voice, and — like any such text — it can be inaccurate or invented; we say so on the report itself. Treat every reading as a prompt for thought and conversation. It is for reflection and entertainment, not medical, legal, or financial advice.
